Lost in the woods

  "Read the f***ing instructions"
    Old Amalfonian proverb.

Another early start then by bus to the town of Scala-bus trips in this neck of the woods are not for the faint hearted with plenty of hairpin bends and vertiginous drops all at high speed. We arrive at our destination shaken(but not stirred) and start the inevitable series of ascending staircases

followed by a section of relatively level with stunning views.

Our solitude is disturbed by a swarm of Hun tourists who should really be back in town buying tacky souvenirs and stuffing their faces with gelato. I am so incensed by this invasion of privacy that I make just one small error in the walking instructions and miss the right hand turn. The mistake was noticed following a kilometer scramble down a rough and rocky path which had to then be walked in reverse. We eventually arrive in the village of Pogerola where we partake in a spartan yet nutritious lunch with more views.

Descent to Amalfi is via 700 steps of hell and then it is gelato time, followed by siesta time followed by dinner time.
